Expanding conceptually, Diva shows a continued growth and diversity with intriguing material combinations and treatments. A variety of shapes and thickness comprise this new release – thin metal designs, as seen on the 5375, offer a classic, elegant look. Chunkier, more fashionable deep plastic shapes, as in the 5372, provide a more modern, colorful alternative for women seeking Diva’s panache. Finally, color finishes such as horns, prints, and marbles can be found throughout the collection’s acetate styles. A mix of gold and silver bases comprise the metal styles, these are additionally colored with brown, burgundy, navy, black, and ivory.
Also defining Diva’s new models are the beautiful flowing temple and endpiece work that the collection has become renowned for. The metalwork is reminiscent of fine jewelry; the elegant selection of Austrian Swarovski Crystals in a variety of patterns, shapes, and sizes further enhances this dynamic.
“We are thrilled about the direction of Diva and the diversity we’ve seen in our releases from the past year,” explained ESE President Paul Shyer. “The addition of new concepts, new looks, and new colors has perfectly complimented our classic styles and has added the type of excitement and buzz to the collection that, quite frankly, every manufacturer and distributor looks for.”

Eastern States Eyewear introduces Randees Kandees, the industry’s first sunglass collection designed entirely by an artist. Designed by New York City talent, Randee Bassen, Randees Kandees is a full scale sunglass collection that will be distributed under ESE’s Exces Eyewear umbrella. Combining her unique talents as an artist with her original views of fashion, Randee has created a collection that features a wide array of vivid plastic colors gracing several eclectic, youthful designs. With statement making shapes and bold treatments that include metal enhancements, contoured cuts and rhinestones, Randees Kandees are perfect for women seeking a fun pair of summer sunglasses.
“I’ve always loved eyewear – I grew up surrounded by it since my father has always worked in ‘the industry’. When ESE approached me to create a collection, it was a natural fit for me so I jumped at the chance,” explains Randee. “Similar to my art, my fashion taste has always been a bit funky and very colorful. I wanted these ideals to come through with every frame design. Also, I knew that I needed to design sunglasses that I would love to wear!”
Merchandising materials include a six piece display that features a rendering of an original Randees Kandees painting. The painting itself features an abstract silhouette of model RK1.

“My art typically consists of canvas paintings influenced by abstract and cubism styles,” explains Randee, “I create sculptures, installations, post modern collages and jewelry as well. I also love taking interesting retired items or accessories and turning them into decorative or wearable collectible pieces.”
Within the new releases, seven are traditional Exces styles which feature the youthful, colorful, funky design that the brand is known for. The other three styles are Exces “Princess” styles – designs graced with a more classic twist that feature accents such as crystals and resin. A variety of shapes and sizes are featured in the entire new collection, showing an ability to fit standard size faces and tweeners alike. Mixing of materials is commonplace as several styles feature metal fronts with plastic temples. Additionally, all Exces Eyewear styles are carefully inspected to ensure that they meet ESE’s high quality standards.
